Starting your conquest in Square Troops is simple and highly addictive. When you begin a new level, you will be presented with a grid-based battlefield. Your enemies (the yellow troops) are already positioned on their side of the board. Your task is to set up your defenses and offensive lines using your available blue troops. Look at the bottom of the screen to see your available troop types, such as Lancers, and their respective costs in gold coins. Select a troop type and click or tap on the empty squares on your side of the grid to place them. Each placement costs a specific amount of coins, which you can track at the top of the screen. You must carefully manage your budget to build a force capable of taking down the enemy. Think about basic strategy: group your units effectively so they don't get overwhelmed one by one. Once you have spent your coins and are satisfied with your formation, the battle begins automatically! From this point, the combat is completely hands-off. Your troops will march forward and engage the enemy. If your strategy was sound and your army is strong enough, they will wipe out the opposing forces. Victory rewards you with a star rating and a bounty of new gold coins, which you will use in the next level to buy even more units. If you lose, simply adjust your troop placement and try again!
